MIAGI Letter & Season's Greetings
This letter goes to all the many young South African musicians who sent us their presentations!
Dear Musicians,
Thank you for your overwhelming responses to our Call for Presentations earlier this year. After having advertised this call only through one posting and a few shares on Facebook and Instagram, the feed-back we received was impressive both in terms of numbers and quality.
It has been an absolute joy to watch and listen to your musicianship in the past two weeks. The general level of artistry, technical skill and also originality/personality that you represent is astonishingly high.
Fact is that nearly all of you qualify, and our dream would be having you with us in a sparkling, full symphony orchestra setting as soon as possible. As we wrote in our call, we are working towards this in our plans for the coming five years.
We are now soon entering 2026, and before the end of January we will already contact some of you to join a project that involves a smaller MIAGI Orchestra formation. For now the number of new musicians we can include is for many reasons extremely limited. So those of you who will not be hearing from us now, please do not understand this as a rejection, it is just a result of limiting factors on our side.
There were a handful of musicians who filled in the form but did not send any file or link to their recording. As the call was primarily about sending MIAGI a presentation video so that we can learn to know you as an artist. Please, if you still wish to do so, complete your presentation by sending your video to this email address, international@miagi.co.za. You are welcome to send it until the 31st of January 2026.
We wish you all a Merry Festive Season, a Happy New Year, and once again, thank you for having joined MIAGI through your great presentations!
Yours,
The MIAGI Team

We are now past the dead-line 30 November, 2025 and want to thank everybody who sent us their great presentations!
HEY, YOUNG SOUTH AFRICAN MUSICIANS!
HAVE YOU TURNED 16 BUT NOT YET 31, PLAY A CLASSICAL OR JAZZ INSTRUMENT (GRADE 7+), AND ARE ABLE TO READ MUSIC?
We are gauging the interest in the MIAGI Orchestra as we plan our activities in 2026 and the next 5 years.
If you wish to present yourself, send us a 3-minute video of your playing!
- The video should be no more than 3 months old.
- Recordings may include accompaniment, but it is not a requirement. You should however be the soloist in the video (not a member of a larger group).
- Part of a piece is fine.
Smartphone recordings are welcome!
